My name is Hava. I live in Arcata with my partner and 3-year-old son. I am a full-time student at HSU, going through the pre-nursing courses and hoping to gain entrance to the nursing program in 2008. I enjoy gardening, writing, roller-blading and photography all of which I do on a strictly for-fun basis. I am also quite fond of minor home repair projects, but I try to limit myself to one project a year for the sake of my family's sanity.

Doula work is something that I do because I am drawn to it. I believe very strongly in a woman's right to choose the circumstances under which she gives birth. I also believe that every birth is a right of passage, requiring a tremendous amount of physical, emotional and spiritual work, which we walk away from with a new understanding of ourselves. I feel privileged to work in the birth community, especially one as rich as ours.

I love what I do and as such I am always thrilled to get phone calls even simply to answer questions or provide the names of other doulas in the area.
